Fundamentals Courses

Education Qualifications for Licensure

An applicant must have satisfactorily completed, within the three years immediately preceding the date application is made, a mortgage lending fundamentals course approved by the Commissioner.  The course shall consist of at least twenty four  hours of classroom instruction in subjects related to mortgage lending approved by the Commissioner.  In addition, the applicant shall have satisfactorily completed a written examination approved by the Commissioner or possess residential mortgage lending education or experience in residential mortgage lending transactions that the Commissioner deems equivalent to the course.

The courses listed satisfy the twenty four hours of mortgage lending fundamentals education for individuals who are not licensed and are seeking a NC Mortgage Loan Officer License.  Taking a course with a "CE" designation will not satisfy the fundamentals education requirement needed for licensing.  "CE" courses are designated for continuing education only. Approval indicates that the course meets state specific education requirements only. The approval by the Commissioner of Banks (“NCCOB”) does not in any way constitute the NCCOB's endorsement or recommendation of the providers or courses listed.
